Please Stop Blaming the Cast Of "Bohemian Rhapsody" for Bryan Singer

Out of all the movies that came out of 2018 no movie (in my opinion) has had more of the underdog story than Bohemian Rhapsody. Based on the life and times of Freddie Mercury and Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody tells the story of Freddie through moments in time leading up to the legendary Live Aid Concert in 1985.
The film opened to mixed reviews from the critics but the audience and the fans came through showing their immense support.
However reports of Bryan Singer "Director" of the film, being very unprofessional on set to the point of barely showing up. And when he did show up he would argue with everyone. Reports even state that he threw things at Rami Malek who stars as Freddie Mercury. This report Singer vehemently denies.
That being said, Singer ended up being fired from production before the final product was finished and the directors job was placed upon the shoulders of Dexter Fletcher.
And now new allegations of sexual harassment came out today against Singer. Reports say he has been sexually abusing underage boys for over twenty years.
Because of this the cast of Bohemian Rhapsody has lost their nomination for the GLAAD awards. They were pulled from the category Outstanding Film- Wide release.
All because of one man's actions.
First of all, I do NOT condone any of this, what Singer has done is inexcusable. However I also do not condone the cast being punished for Singer's actions.
The cast and everyone in the production crew has worked so hard for this movie. They worked long hours day and night to tell Freddie Mercury's story. Freddie Mercury, a man with an incredible story, a man who never let anything stand in his way.
And to top it all off, fans are blaming Malek and the cast of Bohemian Rhapsody for working with Singer. Let me remind you that Malek himself has stated he didn't know anything of the allegations. Just like a lot of people didn't know about the Kevin Spacey or Harvey Weinstein crimes before the whole Me Too movement.
This also doesn't give one the right to harass the cast's social media accounts. I can't tell you how many times I've read the comments on Brian May's (Or the rest of the cast for that matter) Instagram account only to see fans saying how Brian (and everyone else involved) shouldn't be following Singer's account. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions yes, however you can't harass others for it.
And stop and think about this: have you ever thought that the cast doesn't like to talk about it? Or maybe they can't even talk about it because they signed a contract saying they can't talk about it? There's a lot of legalities to cases like these.
And think: Imagine how much emotions and anxiety this can cause the cast. Waking up everyday to something that they can't control and isn't even at fault for. At the end of the the only thing they did was be cast in the movie and did their jobs.
I will continue to support the cast and this movie, and I look forward to seeing how it does at the Oscars and I pray that this doesn't affect how the Oscars turn out.
Because one man's actions does not define a movie. It doesn't define the cast, it doesn't define the crew and it certainly doesn't define Freddie Mercury as the person he was.
